In this boring part, I am going to present my most prominent experiences in the third person (pretty narcissistic isn't it?) but bear with me it will be quick soon (that's what he said²).
Adel Maalel is a second-year Sociology and Anthropology student at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and the author of the book "إطلالة على التاريخ" (A Glimpse into History), a chronological overview of world history designed to simplify key events across various civilizations, aimed primarily at high school students.
He interned at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (May - Aug 2024), managing editorial tasks for the Arabica Encyclopedia. He authored a sociological study titled "An Arab Assessment of Social Media’s Socio-Cultural Impacts: Analysis of the 2022 Arab Opinion Index Results", published in Omran, a peer-reviewed academic journal. He also contributed to research analyzing international perspectives on Hamas post-October 7th.
He was selected for the prestigious We Start Public Policies Academy (July - Nov 2022), representing Sousse in the 2nd edition of the program. He completed 60 hours of training on democratic systems, policy development, and advocacy. He also authored a policy brief on the impact of public transport on the Arab Medina of Sousse, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
He served as Vice President and Secretary General for Financial Affairs at the Tunisian International Model United Nations (TIMUN) Sousse (July 2021 - August 2023). He won over 10 awards, including Best Delegate and Advocate, and led academic workshops in World History and Debating. Additionally, he organized the "Migration Through Art" seminar, which explores the intersection of migration and art, while managing event logistics, partnerships, and financials.
Adel participated in an Archaeological Site excavation and preservation internship at the Kalàa Kebira (El-Souk) site from March 14 to April 30, 2022, focusing on excavation, surveying, and handling archaeological materials under the supervision of the National Heritage Institute and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Sousse.
He also won the regional and national General Knowledge Competition 3rd Edition "University Challenge" representing his Faculty and Sousse University. (Suiiiii!)
